Lee County Mosquito Control District and the Lee County Health Department have worked together in cooperation to protect Lee County from mosquito borne diseases. Each year these programs monitor for local transmission of mosquito borne diseases such as St. Louis Encephalitis, West Nile Virus, Eastern Equine encephalitis, and imported cases of Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya, and now Zika.
