Public Information and Education

Educating citizens about the problems mosquitoes pose to public health and ways to mitigate the threat is very important to the Lee County Mosquito Control District. The Public Information and Education department provides presentations to local civic groups and homeowners associations, as well as scheduled tours of the District headquarters. Notification of night missions are provided on the Lee County Mosquito Control District website, and staff are available by phone or email to answer questions the public may have about mosquito control.

The District takes great pride in our school-based education program designed to teach Lee County students about mosquitoes and the role mosquito control plays in our environment and local community. Our team of Education Specialists conduct classroom programs in collaboration with classroom teachers. Programs are designed for students in kindergarten, 5th grade, 7th grade, high school biology, and high school chemistry classes. The program supports Florida’s state standards in a variety of areas.
