Commissioners
The Lee County Mosquito Control District board is comprised of seven commissioners representing seven areas. The areas are divided to have an equal share of the population. Commissioners are elected, at large, in the General Election, by qualified electors residing within the District. This is a 4-year term, non-partisan office. If there should be a vacancy on the board, it would be filled by appointment, by the Governor, for the remainder of the unexpired term. For a map of the seven areas, see below.
Commissioners are compensated $400 per month for serving on the Board. The compensation is set by Florida Statue 388.141. The Board has chosen not to authorize a higher amount through special act or local application as allowed in F. S. 388.141. The Board serves as Commissioners for the Lee County Mosquito Control District and the Lee County Hyacinth Control District, but are only compensated as serving on the Lee County Mosquito Control District Board in compliance with F.S. 388.141.
